 Season Two of Knots Landing is perhaps best known for the introduction of Abby Cunningham, played by Donna Mills, as Sid Fairgate's scheming younger sister. Donna Mills began her acting career on soap operas, including one where she played a former nun. She co-starred opposite Clint Eastwood in 1971's Play Misty For Me. In 1980, she took a step away from the good girl parts she'd played up to that point to take on the role of Abby on Knots Landing. One interview quotes her as saying, "I was tired of playing the goodie-two-shoes." But despite the fact that, among other things, Abby was a home wrecker and social climber who caused enormous amounts of trouble for the residents of the Seaview Circle cul-de-sac, Donna never saw her as a villain: "Abby was designed to be the trouble maker and stir things up.
