Deputies say they seized 10,000 counterfeit DVDs from Dallas womanA Dallas woman was arrested Friday, accused of operating a bootleg DVD lab in her small apartment. Dallas County sheriff's deputies said they confiscated more than 10,000 counterfeit movies and music DVDs.

Leticia Martinez
, a 46-year-old who lived in the 3300 block of Webb Chapel Road, is now out on bail and faces a fine of $250,000 and up to five years in prison. The Motion Picture Association of America tipped off local authorities about the operation, and sheriff's deputies spent two weeks investigating before making an arrest.

The collection is valued at nearly $200,000, according to sheriff's deputies.

"We have become one of the top areas for this," sheriff's department spokeswoman Kim Leach said. "It's becoming such a hotbed of activity for this thing."

Deputies found about 30 DVD burners and large amounts of paper and ink for labels, in addition to the bootlegged DVDs. Among the DVDs being burned was the Bruce Willis film Surrogates, which is in wide release in movie theaters nationwide, deputies said.
